1st Prize in Medici International Music Competition
Today, I was pleased to learn that I was awarded First Prize in the Professional division of the 2022 Medici International Music Competition! I submitted a performance of Morton Subotnick’s “In Two Worlds,” for this particular competition. Congrats to fellow competitor, Jared Waters, for winning First Prize, as well!
Review: Backun Vocalise TM1 & TM2 Alto Saxophone Mouthpieces
Today, I’m happy to share my review on the brand new Backun Vocalise TM1 & TM2 mouthpieces! Many thanks to Meridian Winds for supplying the review copies.
These mouthpieces were designed in a collaboration with soloist Timothy McAllister, mouthpiece craftsperson Richard Hawkins, and Backun Musical Company. These mouthpieces were made to fit the needs of students and professionals alike and promise high consistency of manufacture.
Scheduled to Perform at 2022 Indiana State Contemporary Music Festival
I am pleased to share that I am scheduled to perform Dr. Matthew Kennedy’s “Triceratops,” at the 2022 Indiana State Contemporary Music Festival on October 28, at 3:00pm. This performance will be in collaboration with saxophonists Garrett Dustin Evans and Kirby Leitz. Many thanks to Dr. Kennedy and the festival for this opportunity!
Saxophone Faculty at New England Music Camp
I’m pleased to share that I’ll be serving as saxophone faculty at New England Music Camp this summer for their core program. My duties will include teaching saxophone lessons, saxophone quartet, jazz combo, and performing alongside students in ensembles. I am very much looking forward to teaching these awesome bright young musicians alongside Dr. Gail Levinsky and the rest of the faculty!
Performing for 8th International Conference on Music and Minimalism
I am looking forward to performing on the Society for Minimalist Music's 8th International Conference on Music and Minimalism! I will be performing: May 5th at 8pm “Workers Union” by Louis Andriessen, May 6th at 1pm “Alaric I or II” by Gavin Bryars (with Rosarium Quartet), and May 7th at 8pm “Stay On It” by Julius Eastman.
