For sale is a 1960s Brilhart Level Air tenor saxophone mouthpiece, in a 7* tip opening. These mouthpieces are sought after for the excellent projection and large step baffle design – perfect for rock, funk, commercial, and playing with amplified instruments.
The serial number suggests this particular mouthpiece an early model from the Carlsbad, CA era, circa 1967. Note the horizontal machining marks; later models are vertical, and much poorer quality/consistency of construction. There is an indentation in the bite patch, which has ben filled with epoxy and covered with a clear bite patch, which should hold up well. This particular mouthpiece plays easily and prefers soft reeds for the best sound. Works well with the BG Jazz ligature, or a Rovner L-3ML. Huge projecting sound, with more body than a Berg.
